Can I have a wood burning stove

Wood burner installed with stone surround

At Cambridge stoves one of the most common questions we are asked is can I have a wood burning stove, and, in our experience the answer is usually yes. In many cases people without fireplaces are the first to ask this question and whether detached or mid terrace Cambridge Stoves can usually find a solution to this problem, a simple free no obligation site survey from one of our engineers is all it takes. One of the solutions to not having a fireplace is for Cambridge Stoves to design and install a twin wall flue system which can be installed on an exterior wall or could be boxed in through your house and out of the roof. Both of these solutions can be installed with minimal disruption to your house and will result in a stylish safe and efficient installation.

Cambridge stoves can install wood burning stoves into existing victorian fireplaces

Whilst choosing the right stove is very important, we at Cambridge Stoves think the method of installation is as important, from the hearth to the chimney pot we will discuss your install and keep you well informed of every stage. Our installation method will vary from install to install but when it comes to existing fireplaces we will start by asking the question ‘is my fireplace big enough?’ if the answer is no then we will carry out all necessary building and plastering works including any structural work to make your fireplace ready to receive a woodburner. The hearth will usually comprise of two pieces of stone one inside the fireplace recess and one outside, this is done to allow for movement when exposed to heat. our most popular stone is granite as it is very hardwearing leaving a stylish finish, we use local stonemasons to source all of our stone. Once the fireplace is ready for an install we will sweep the chimney in readiness for lining, once lined we will carryout all necessary work to the chimney including pots/cowels and pointing.
